Our Moorea Connection
Sunset Bay OCC’s heart beats in rhythm with the Pacific. Eimeo, our coastal home, shares a sisterly bond with Moorea in Tahiti — a connection born through the beauty of outrigger canoeing. Just as Moorea’s turquoise lagoons and cultural traditions have shaped generations of paddlers, we honour that same spirit here in Mackay. Our canoes, our teamwork, and our love for the ocean carry forward this shared legacy. It’s a bond that reminds us every paddle stroke carries both tradition and future.
Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters on which we paddle — the Yuibera people — and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We honour their deep connection to the sea, the seasons, and the stories that flow through this place we are privileged to call home.
We carry this respect forward, recognising that every time our paddles touch the water, we move together in the spirit of culture, continuity, and care.
